Travel Therapy Job Placement FAQ's
Why should I consider a career as a traveling therapist?
There are many reasons to choose a traveling career. You can explore exciting locations, earn excellent pay, and build your resume with experience in a variety of clinical settings. You can even take time off between assignments if you’d like.
Why should I travel with PT On Call, P.S.?
Travel with us and you will get personalized service and support that is unmatched. You’ll get more opportunities from our vast network of facilities along with the contract negotiating expertise of a company with over 20 years of experience.
Your dedicated placement coordinator will listen to you, match you with assignments in settings and locations that fit your unique needs and negotiate the best possible rates. He/she will assist you with each step of the process to make every transition an easy one.
How much can I earn as a traveling therapist?
Therapists who travel with PT On Call, P.S. typically make substantially more than those in comparable permanent positions. You can make about as much in nine months of traveling as you normally would in twelve months.
What about benefits?
As long as you are working the minimum hours you will have access to our comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, 401K and more.
What about travel and housing arrangements?
Your placement coordinator will work closely with you, handle the necessary paperwork and make sure that you are comfortable with all travel and housing arrangements. Of course you will be reimbursed for travel expenses and your housing is free.
Can I bring my family and/or pets with me?
Absolutely! Just let your dedicated placement coordinator know who else is coming along and he/she will make the necessary arrangements.
Do I have to travel for 13 weeks?
No, PT On Call, P.S. offers travel assignments for the weekend, one week or longer. Tell us the time frame you are available and we will strive to find the perfect fit.
Do you pay for the trip there and back?
Yes we will reimburse you for the miles there and back one time per assignment. We use the IRS website for reimbursement rates which as of July 1, 2011 are set at $0.55 a mile. That’s each way and is a really good rate even with gas as high priced as it is these days.
When you say “free private housing”, do I have a choice in where I stay on assignment?
Yes we will always let you know what we can find available and you will get the final say before confirming for an assignment. You may also choose to take the money we intend to spend and make your own arrangements if you want to.
Do your fulltime travelers enjoy time off and continued medical and dental?
Yes, if you are a fulltime traveler for PT On Call you may take time off in between assignments and continue medical and dental coverage while vacationing. Give us a call to hear about how our travelers take advantage of this.
Are all of your travel opportunities listed online?
Not all of them can be put on here. PT On Call, P.S. works with over 580 facilities in Oregon and Washington so you will not find all of them on here. Give us a call and we can tell you about all the jobs we have and if you are interested in a particular area we will go out and find that travel job for you.
Does PT On Call offer positions nationwide?
PT On Call, P.S. is located in Vancouver, WA and we try to go and visit every facility we have therapists working in or about to go to work in so it makes sense for us to offer travel in the northwest. For now we only have travel assignments in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, California and Alaska. We are moving forward with a Southwest division that will include New Mexico and Arizona soon though and can help you find permanent positions nation wide. Give us a call to discuss your plans and future.
