You must also be an occupational therapist or physical therapist with current credentials. Depending on your position and where you’re employed, you may need to have a license, certificate or registration. Since the hand therapy profession is constantly changing, re-certification is required every five years.
According to PayScale.com, certified hand therapists earn an average of $37.12 per hour—the median hand therapist salary is $74,067. Most people working in the area of hand therapy have more than five years of experience.
